Delhi HC rejects plea for oversight in Red Fort blast case
A man named Dr. Pankaj Pushkar asked the Delhi High Court to create a special committee to watch over the trial of the Red Fort blast case.
This case is about a big explosion that happened near the Red Fort on November 10, which killed 15 people.
Dr. Pushkar wanted the court to make sure everything in the trial is fair and that the families of the victims get answers.
However, the court said no because the trial hasn't even started yet.
The court also mentioned that the case is now being handled by a special agency called the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The court told Dr. Pushkar that his request was more like a research paper than a legal petition and that they can only help if someone's rights are being violated.
The Delhi High Court rejected a plea for a court-monitored oversight committee in the Red Fort blast case, calling it premature.
The petitioner, Dr. Pankaj Pushkar, sought day-to-day hearings and monthly status reports to ensure a fair trial.
The court stated that the concerns raised were based on apprehension and not on any infringement of fundamental rights.
The additional solicitor general representing the Centre said the plea was misconceived and that the case had been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The blast on November 10 near Red Fort claimed 15 lives and the petitioner argued that the attack was an assault on the nation's sovereignty.
