IIT Kharagpur Adds Counselors, Helpline After Student Deaths
IIT Kharagpur is stepping up its efforts to help students who may be struggling with their mental health.
After several student deaths, the institute has hired 10 extra counselors who will meet with students and check in on them.
They'll go to different places on campus to talk with students and find out if they need help.
They also put a special code on the doors of student rooms that lets them get help anytime, day or night.
The goal is to catch any problems early and provide support.
IIT Kharagpur appointed 10 mobile counselors.
The initiative follows multiple student deaths suspected as suicides.
Counselors will interact with students to assess mental well-being.
A fact-finding team is reviewing cases of unnatural student deaths.
