Judge Blocks Auction of More Than 100 Titanic Artefacts

A company wanted to sell more than 100 objects recovered from the Titanic wreck.

A federal judge in Virginia stopped the auction.

The United States, France, and other groups worried that selling the objects could damage important historic collections.

The judge said any sale would need court approval.

The company said it needed money because of financial difficulties.

It also said it had protected, repaired, and displayed the objects for many years.

The company has recovered more than 5,500 objects from the wreck.

More than 1,500 people died when the Titanic sank in 1912.
