Xi Urges BRICS to Take Peacemaking Role in Middle East

Chinese President Xi Jinping asked BRICS countries to help make peace in the Middle East.

He said the conflict is causing serious suffering and does not help the world’s shared interests.

China said it would work with other BRICS members on this effort.

Xi also said BRICS should support development, innovation and cooperation.

He described BRICS as an important group for countries in the Global South.

The summit took place in New Delhi while India held the group’s chairmanship.

The members unanimously approved a document called the New Delhi Declaration 2026.

China will lead BRICS and host its next summit in 2027.
