Mysterious Glowing Orb in Colorado Skies Sparks Online Theories
Some workers who build fences were in Colorado and noticed something strange in the sky.
They saw a round, glowing ball just hanging in one place.
It did not move at all, even after many hours.
The workers said it looked like a ball of energy.
They took photos and videos and shared them on Facebook.
People on the internet saw the pictures and started guessing.
Some thought it might be a weather balloon floating very high up.
Others thought it might be a glowing ball of gas called a plasma orb.
No one knows exactly what it was.
The mystery made lots of people talk and wonder.
A luminous, circular object appeared in Colorado skies and stayed fixed in one spot for nearly six hours.
A fencing crew first spotted the orb at 11 a.m. and said it was still there when they left at 4:30 p.m.
Worker John Smith described it as "perfectly round and transparent through binoculars, almost like a ball of energy."
The crew reported seeing a similar glowing object about 80 kilometres from the previous site within a week.
Social media commenters debated theories including a weather balloon and a rare "daytime plasma orb."
- Who
- John Smith and his fencing crew in Colorado witnessed the object; online commenters debated its identity.
- What
- A glowing, circular, transparent-looking orb that remained motionless in the sky for roughly six hours, with a second similar sighting about 80 kilometres away.
- When
- Recently — on the day of the sighting it was observed from about 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the second sighting occurred within a week.
- Where
- Colorado; a similar object was seen about 80 kilometres from the first site.
- Why
- The object's identity is unknown, leading to competing explanations such as a weather balloon or a daytime plasma orb.

Nature of the object
Weather Balloon
It was probably a high-altitude weather balloon, which can appear stationary and reflect sunlight as a luminous sphere.
Plasma Orb / Unknown
Some commenters rejected a balloon, saying it was "triple the height of a 747," and others suggested a rare "daytime plasma orb" or an unidentified object.
