Mizoram to hold AMC elections in April or May
The Mizoram State Election Commission (SEC) has decided to hold the elections for the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) in April or May instead of March 1, when the current term ends.
This decision was made because the budget session, school exams, and the end of the financial year will keep officials busy.
The SEC plans to appoint an administrator to manage the AMC until the elections.
The Congress party has already announced candidates for 13 out of 19 seats, while other parties are yet to do so.
In the last elections, the MNF won the majority, followed by the ZPM and Congress.
