New Sickle Cell Anaemia Screening Kit to Cost Under Rs 100
Scientists have created a new, cheap test to check for sickle cell anaemia, a blood disease.
This test will cost less than 100 rupees.
It needs just a drop of blood and gives results in half an hour, telling if a person has the disease or could pass it on.
The test should be available in about six months.
Scientists are also working on cheaper treatments, hoping to lower the cost significantly.
The CSIR director also discussed how AI is helping improve areas like battery technology and road safety.
A new sickle cell anaemia screening test kit developed by CSIR will cost less than Rs 100.
The test kit uses one drop of blood, with results in 30 minutes via PCR.
The kit will identify patients, carriers, and those at risk.
The CSIR aims to launch the kit in the next six months.
The DG-CSIR spoke about AI's role in several sectors, including battery tech and road safety.
