Karnataka Launches New Cooperative Society for Gruha Lakshmi Beneficiaries
Imagine a program in Karnataka that gives women heads of families money every month.
Now, the government is starting a special club, like a bank, just for these women.
This club will let them borrow money, up to a lot, with really small interest rates.
They can use this money to start their own little businesses, or if they have a sudden need for money like for medicine or if something unexpected happens.
This helps the women become stronger with their money.
A study showed that the money they already get is mostly spent on important things like food, house needs, and school fees for their kids.
Karnataka is launching the Gruha Lakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative Society on November 19.
The society will offer low-interest loans up to Rs 3 lakh to beneficiaries of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
The Gruha Lakshmi scheme provides Rs 2,000 monthly to women heads of families.
Loans are intended for self-employment, emergencies, and other essential needs.
Beneficiaries have historically spent their scheme funds on food, household expenses, medicines, and children's fees.
