RDI Fund Disbursement Raises Conflict of Interest Concerns
The Indian government created a big fund called the RDI Fund to help private companies do research and make new technology.
A group of people chose which companies would get money from this fund.
But some of those people also own or have a stake in the companies they chose.
The Science and Technology Minister told Parliament about this problem.
It means the people who decide who gets the money might be favoring their own companies, which could be unfair.
Committee selecting RDI Fund recipients had personal stakes in at least 15 companies.
Seven committee members listed by Minister Jitendra Singh had stakes in those companies.
RDI Fund is a Rs 1 lakh crore corpus created last year to support private sector R&D and deep-tech.
Fund provides long‑term low‑cost financing via second‑level fund managers (SLFMs).
The issue was raised in a written answer in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
