Mizoram to Commence Biometric Data Collection of Myanmar Refugees
The Mizoram government is starting to collect fingerprints and other identification details from over 33,000 people who came from Myanmar for safety.
This is happening because the Indian government asked them to do it.
The previous government delayed this because the system was meant for deporting illegal immigrants, while these people are considered displaced and need help.
Now that the system has been fixed, the state is ready to start the process.
Most of the refugees are staying in relief camps or with relatives and friends.
This will help the government keep track of where people are and provide necessary support.
