Anakapalle Reservoirs Nearing Full Capacity After Cyclone Montha Rains
Heavy rains from Cyclone Montha have filled up the water reservoirs in Anakapalle district.
Some reservoirs, like Tandava and Raiwada, are almost full, with more water coming in than going out.
This means there is very little extra space left in these reservoirs to hold more floodwater.
District officials are watching the water levels very closely, every hour.
They are also making sure that villages located downstream are safe.
The total amount of water stored in all the monitored reservoirs is very high, but there's still a bit of space left, called a flood cushion, to manage extra water.
Everyone is staying alert in case the rain continues.
Anakapalle district reservoirs are approaching full capacity following heavy rainfall from Cyclone Montha.
Tandava Reservoir holds 4.61 tmc against a capacity of 4.96 tmc, with inflows exceeding outflows.
Raiwada Reservoir stores 2.83 TMC against a capacity of 3.6 TMC, also experiencing higher inflows than outflows.
Smaller reservoirs like Konam, NTR, Pedderu, and Varaha are also reporting elevated water levels.
District collector Vijay Krishnan has placed irrigation and disaster management teams on high alert for continuous monitoring and downstream village safety.
