CBI Names Whistleblower in RG Kar Chargesheet
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named Akhtar Ali, a former deputy superintendent at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in a supplementary chargesheet.
Initially, Akhtar was known as a whistleblower who exposed financial misconduct by the then principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh.
However, the CBI's investigation found that Akhtar was aware of the corruption and even benefited from it.
Between 2020 and 2022, large sums of money were deposited into his and his wife's bank accounts.
Akhtar has not yet seen the chargesheet and is awaiting legal advice.
He was suspended in November following the High Court's orders and the CBI's findings.
The CBI submitted a supplementary chargesheet naming Akhtar Ali, the whistleblower in the RG Kar Medical College financial irregularities case.
Ali is accused of having knowledge of corruption and benefiting from it during his tenure.
Between 2020 and 2022, ₹2.39 lakh was deposited in Ali's account and ₹50,000 in his wife's account.
