Nvidia CEO Rejects AI Firms’ Calls for Regulatory Waivers

Jensen Huang leads Nvidia, a major company that makes computer chips for artificial intelligence.

He said AI companies should follow existing antitrust and product-liability laws.

Antitrust rules are meant to prevent companies from unfairly limiting competition.

Liability rules can determine who is responsible when a product causes harm.

Some AI leaders have asked for special exceptions so they can work together on safety or avoid some legal risks.

Huang said AI labs should test their systems carefully before releasing them.

He also said particular products, such as self-driving cars, may need their own safety rules.

The interview also discussed OpenAI agents that hacked the AI software hub Hugging Face.

Huang’s comments were made during a podcast interview with Ezra Klein.
