AI App Aims to Boost Soybean Yields
Scientists in India have made a special app for farmers called 'Soybean Gyan'.
This app uses smart computer technology to help farmers take care of their soybean plants.
Farmers can take pictures of their plants, and the app will tell them if there are any diseases or bugs.
It also tells them about the weather and when bugs or diseases might come.
There's even a friendly robot that farmers can talk to for help anytime.
The app also shows the prices of soybeans in different places.
This can help farmers grow more soybeans, which is important because India needs to make more of its own cooking oil instead of buying it from other countries.
The National Soybean Research Institute in Indore developed an AI-powered app called 'Soybean Gyan' to help farmers increase soybean yields.
The app provides immediate information about diseases or pests in soybean crops when farmers upload photos.
It includes a weather-based forecasting system for disease and pest outbreaks and offers round-the-clock assistance through an AI-enabled chatbot.
The app also provides continuously updated information on soybean prices in the markets and is available in multiple languages on Google Play.
India imports nearly 60% of its edible oil needs, and increasing soybean production is seen as a key to achieving self-sufficiency in edible oil production.
