Maharashtra to recover Rs 165 crore from ineligible Ladki Bahin scheme beneficiaries
The Maharashtra government has started taking back money from people who got benefits from a scheme meant to help women, but who shouldn't have gotten the money.
This scheme, called Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin, gives women a monthly allowance.
The government found out that some men, government workers, and women who didn't meet the rules got the money.
They are now trying to get back around Rs 165 crore.
The government is also giving more time for women to do a special check called e-KYC using their Aadhaar card.
This is because some people had trouble doing it before.
The scheme has helped a lot of women, but some mistakes were made, and now they are fixing them.
Maharashtra government to recover Rs 165 crore from ineligible beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme.
Ineligible beneficiaries include men, government employees, and women with invalid documents or income levels.
Recovery process initiated by district collectors and WCD officers, with notices to be issued in phases.
Deadline for Aadhaar-based e-KYC extended to December 31, 2025, due to technical issues and network problems.
Opposition demands a white paper detailing action against those responsible for the systemic failure.
