Bengal Rolls Out QR System To Monitor Waste Segregation

Bengal Rolls Out QR System To Monitor Waste Segregation

The Bengal government wants people to separate wet and dry garbage at home.

Each household will receive a special QR code.

Waste workers will scan the code when they collect garbage.

The scan will show whether the garbage was separated correctly.

Workers can send feedback to the municipality immediately.

People may receive digital fines for littering, illegal dumping, public urination or defecation, and banned plastic bags.

Spitting in public places can result in a smaller fine.

Officials said the main goal is to encourage cleaner habits, not to make money.

Municipalities will also use awareness campaigns and community bins to help people follow the rules.
