PTI Threatens Nationwide Protests Over Denied Jail Visit to Khan
Imran Khan is a famous leader in Pakistan who used to be the prime minister.
He is now in jail at a place called Adiala Jail.
His political party is called Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or PTI.
The party wants to visit him in prison on Thursday.
Party leaders say the government has not let his family and friends meet him.
They also say he is not getting good medical care and that his eyes are very sick.
His wife, Bushra Bibi, is also in jail and has health problems.
A party leader named Sohail Afridi said people will protest all over the country if the visit is not allowed.
He said the whole country could turn into a big protest place called D-Chowk.
He also said there is a "spark of revolution" in the eyes of young people.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) warned of nationwide protests if jailed former prime minister Imran Khan is denied a meeting with party colleagues this week.
All PTI parliamentarians plan to visit Khan at Adiala Jail on Thursday; his family assured no political discussion would take place during the meeting.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said "entire Pakistan will be turned into D-Chowk" by 10 pm Thursday if the meeting is denied.
Afridi warned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key cabinet ministers will be held responsible if anything happens to 73-year-old Khan, whom he called "unjustly imprisoned in fabricated cases."
Khan's party cited his deteriorating health and severe eye condition, and similar concerns for wife Bushra Bibi, demanding the best possible medical care.
