Manipur Rights Body Seeks Safety for Children in Conflict Areas

A child-rights commission in Manipur is worried about children living in areas affected by conflict.

It asked the government to protect children more effectively.

The commission was responding to the alleged killing of a 17-year-old student.

The student was from Upper Nkou village in Tamenglong district.

Officials were asked to investigate the death quickly.

They were also told to improve security near schools, on routes used by students, and in villages.

Police, district officials, schools, and local authorities should work together to spot dangers.

They must report within 15 days on the investigation, help given to the family, and steps taken to protect children.
