AMU Probes Fee Payment Issues Post-Online Switch
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has a problem.
Some students didn't pay their fees when the university switched from manual to online payments during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The university found out when students tried to get their documents after finishing their courses and saw dues they didn't know about.
A special team is looking into this issue to find out how many students didn't pay.
The university also set up a new team to make sure fee payments are handled better in the future.
They want to make the process more transparent and error-free.
The team's report is not ready yet, but the university is working to fix the problem.
AMU constituted a committee to investigate non-payment of fees by students after switching to an online system during Covid-19.
Issue discovered when students found dues against their names while collecting documents after course completion.
Committee includes university registrar, Controller of Examination and Admission, VC nominee, and Finance Officer.
University set up a fee management cell in September 2023 to improve fee collection and processing.
Committee report is yet to be submitted, and the exact number of affected students is still being determined.
