Road Crash Fatalities in India
In 2023, Telangana had a lot of road accidents, especially on big highways.
Even though Hyderabad, the capital, didn't have as many deaths as other big cities, the whole state still had a high number of accidents.
Most of these accidents happened because people were driving too fast.
Many of the people who died were riding two-wheelers or were walking.
A lot of the people who died were between 18 and 45 years old, which is a lot of working-age people.
This shows that road safety is still a big problem in Telangana.
In Pune, road crash deaths decreased by 15% from 2024 to 2025, but pedestrians and two-wheeler riders still made up 90% of the fatalities.
Serious injuries also increased, and hit-and-run incidents were more than half of all fatal crashes.
Young adults, especially those below 25, accounted for a high share of road accident fatalities in India, with overspeeding and substance use being major factors.
Police officials emphasize the need for early education and better enforcement of traffic laws to improve road safety.
Telangana recorded 7,660 road crash fatalities in 2023, with national highways accounting for nearly half of the state's total fatalities.
Pune saw a 15% decline in road crash deaths from 2024 to 2025, but pedestrians and two-wheeler riders accounted for 90% of the fatalities.
Speeding was the leading cause of road crash deaths nationwide, responsible for 68.1% of fatalities.
Two-wheeler users were the most affected group, accounting for 44.8% of all deaths in Telangana.
Nearly two-thirds of all road crash deaths in India occurred among people aged 18 to 45 years, with young adults below 25 accounting for 25.5% of the fatalities.
