EPFO Adopts Face Auth for UAN: Direct Employee Access
EPFO is making it easier to get your UAN (like an ID for your PF).
Starting August 1, 2025, you'll use the UMANG app and your face to get your UAN, using Aadhaar's Face Authentication.
This replaces the need to ask your employer.
You'll use the app to create and activate your UAN.
This change simplifies the system.
However, international workers and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan are exempt from this process.
EPFO mandates Aadhaar face authentication via UMANG app for UAN generation.
Process streamlines UAN allotment, activation, and record updates.
Effective August 1, 2025, requires Aadhaar and UMANG app usage.
Removes the need to involve employers for UAN generation.
Exemptions include international workers and Nepal/Bhutan citizens.
