Telangana DGP Warns of Surging Cyber Crime, Investment Fraud

Police in the Indian state of Telangana are worried about a new kind of bad guy: cyber criminals who cheat people using computers and phones.

The top police officer, CV Anand, said there are more and more of these crimes in the state.

Older people and retired workers are getting tricked the most.

He said that a few years ago, the biggest problem was robberies, but now it is drug cases and computer crimes.

He also said many students and young people get caught up in drug cases and hurt their futures.

The police have found about 40 different kinds of computer crimes.

The most common one is investment fraud, where criminals trick people into giving money for fake money-making plans.

Some people who are cheated feel too embarrassed to tell the police, which makes it harder to catch the criminals.

The police invited people hurt by these crimes to a program called 'Suraksha ka Tiranga' to teach everyone how to stay safe online.

Even though police work hard, the criminals keep finding new tricks, so everyone needs to be careful.
