Delhi records nearly six-fold rise in H1N1 cases in 2026

In a big city called Delhi, the flu is spreading much more this year than last year.

This year, 1,344 people got sick with a special kind of flu called H1N1, while only 229 people got it during the same time last year.

H1N1 used to be called 'swine flu' a long time ago, and it can make you cough, sneeze, and feel very tired.

Most healthy people get better in about a week, but some people can become very sick.

Babies, older people, pregnant women, and people with health problems like asthma or diabetes need to be extra careful.

The flu can sometimes cause serious problems like trouble breathing or an infection in the lungs called pneumonia.

You can help stop the flu by washing your hands, covering your coughs, and getting a flu shot.

Opening windows and wearing a mask in crowded places can also help.

If someone has trouble breathing, chest pain, or gets much worse, they should see a doctor right away.
