Calcutta High Court Sets Five Fast-Track Courts for NEET Leak
The Calcutta High Court made a new rule to help solve a big problem with a college test called NEET.
They set up five special courts that will finish cases quickly, usually in three months.
Three courts are in Kolkata and two are in Port Blair.
These courts will look at cases where people tried to cheat by getting the test paper early.
The courts will work with both state police and the central police.
The goal is to make sure cheating is punished fast and people trust the test again.
Calcutta High Court established five fast‑track courts (3 in Kolkata, 2 in Port Blair) to hear NEET paper‑leak cases under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
Trials must be completed and judgments delivered preferably within three months of charge‑sheet filing.
Separate courts will handle cases investigated by state agencies (Bench‑I, City Sessions Court) and by central agencies (Special CBI Court No. 2).
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will have fast‑track trials conducted by the Additional District and Sessions Judge and the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Port Blair.
The move follows nationwide NEET paper‑leak controversy and aims to speed up prosecution and restore confidence in exam integrity.
