Teaching Doctors Seek Release of UGC Pay Arrears

Doctors who teach in government medical colleges say they are still owed some pay.

The money is linked to a pay revision called UGC PRC-2016.

The doctors said the revision was meant to start in 2016.

They said the state government began applying it to them only in 2021.

At a meeting in Vijayawada, they asked the government to explain what would happen to the unpaid money.

They also asked it to release the arrears.

Bopparaju Venkateswaralu said doctors help provide public healthcare.

He urged the government to protect their pay and work benefits.
