Putin's India Visit Amid Oil Import Shifts
President Vladimir Putin of Russia is going to visit India on December 4-5, 2025.
This is for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
He will meet with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
They will talk about how to make India and Russia work together better, especially in defense and the economy.
At the same time, India is buying less oil from Russia because of new rules.
India is now getting oil from other countries like Saudi Arabia and the US.
Russia is offering bigger discounts to keep selling some oil to India.
This visit is important because India and Russia have been friends for a long time, and they want to keep their partnership strong.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on December 4-5, 2025, for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
During the visit, Putin will meet with PM Modi and President Murmu to discuss bilateral ties, defense cooperation, and economic expansion.
India's Russian oil imports are expected to drop by 47% to around 1 million barrels per day in December due to US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil.
Indian refiners are diversifying their oil supplies, increasing intake from West Asia, West Africa, and the Americas.
Russian oil discounts have increased to $6 per barrel to partially offset the higher cost of alternative oil sources.
