AIMIM Charges Non-Refundable Fee for Telangana Polls
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is asking people who want to run in the Telangana municipal elections to pay a Rs 3,000 fee that they won't get back.
This fee is needed for anyone who wants to be a candidate for the AIMIM.
The forms and money must be sent to the party's headquarters in Hyderabad by January 20.
The elections are expected to happen in mid-February and will cover many areas, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
In the last elections, the BRS won the most seats, but the BJP did well too.
The AIMIM is now working more closely with the Congress party.
There is also talk about whether the GHMC will be split into three corporations.
The government's recent notification treats the GHMC as a single unit, which might mean the split won't happen.
If it did, the AIMIM could become very strong in one part of Hyderabad.
AIMIM requires a non-refundable Rs 3,000 fee for candidates seeking nomination in Telangana municipal elections.
Applications must be submitted by January 20, with the final list of candidates to be announced by Asaduddin Owaisi.
The municipal elections are expected to be held in mid-February, covering 3,000 wards in 117 municipalities and 6 municipal corporations.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is a key area of focus in the upcoming elections, with speculation about a potential split into three corporations.
In the last GHMC polls, the BRS won the most seats, followed by the BJP and AIMIM, with the Congress performing poorly.
