After Caffeine Overdose, 25-Year-Old Man Dies, Inquest Finds

Alfie Goddard was a 25-year-old man who took a dangerously large amount of caffeine tablets.

He became very ill and was found walking barefoot and vomiting blood.

Doctors took him to a hospital, but his heart stopped.

They could not revive him.

Tests showed that he had a fatal level of caffeine in his body.

Caffeine is found in drinks, supplements and tablets.

Small or moderate amounts are usually safe for most healthy adults, but people can react differently.

Very large amounts can seriously harm the heart and brain.

In this case, the death was ruled accidental.
