Australian shares rise with bank, miner gains
Australian shares went up a little on Tuesday.
Big banks and mining companies helped the market go up.
Mining companies did well because copper prices went up.
Banks also did well because the U.S. Federal Reserve made borrowing cheaper.
But tech and energy companies did not do as well.
Tech stocks went down for the seventh day in a row, and energy stocks also went down a bit.
Australian shares rose 0.2% to 8,653.50 points on Tuesday.
Mining sub-index advanced 0.4% due to firmer copper prices.
Financials gained 1.2%, their highest level in over a month.
Tech stocks dropped as much as 2.2% to an eight-month low.
Energy sub-index dipped 0.8%, its lowest in three weeks.
