Karnataka CM Delays Tamil Nadu Leader's Visit Over Water Dispute
Karnataka's chief minister, DK Shivakumar, asked Tamil Nadu's chief minister, C Joseph Vijay, to delay his trip to Bengaluru.
Vijay agreed because people in Karnataka were upset about water being sent to Tamil Nadu.
The water dispute is about how much water from the Cauvery River should be shared.
Tamil Nadu said it will file a case in the Supreme Court about the water release.
Shivakumar said the leaders should meet in a calm and friendly way once tensions ease.
Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar requested Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay to postpone his Bengaluru visit amid the Cauvery water dispute.
Vijay agreed to delay the trip to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and avoid public unrest over the 3,500 cusecs water release.
The postponement follows a severe rainfall deficit in Karnataka and the CWMA's decision to release water to Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu's natural resources minister said the government will file a case in the Supreme Court regarding the water release.
Shivakumar emphasized respect and cooperation between the states, urging a cordial meeting once tensions ease.
