Iran Protests Spread Amid Economic Crisis
In Iran, people are protesting against the government because they are unhappy with how things are going.
A video of an old woman protesting went viral.
She was bleeding and shouting that she's not afraid because she feels like she's been 'dead' for 47 years, meaning she has suffered a lot under the current government.
The protests were organized by an exiled prince, and the government has cut off the internet to stop people from communicating.
Many people have been hurt or arrested.
The woman's brave actions have become a symbol for the protests.
People are also very upset because the money in Iran is not worth much anymore, and things like food are very expensive.
Some women are even burning pictures of the leader and lighting cigarettes with them, which is a big no-no in Iran.
The government is warning people not to protest, but many are still doing it.
The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that the protesters are being influenced by the United States and that the government will not back down.
The U.S. President, Donald Trump, has warned Iran not to harm the protesters, but Iran says the U.S. should mind its own business.
Protests spread across Iran, with at least 35-62 people killed and over 1,200-2,200 detained.
The Iranian government cut off both mobile and landline internet services nationwide, affecting 85 million people.
Protesters chanted slogans like 'Death to the dictator' and set fire to government buildings.
The protests were organized by exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and have been ongoing for twelve days.
