Bengaluru's Grey Line Metro Progresses
Bengaluru is building a new metro line called the Grey Line, which will run from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
This line is part of the Namma Metro’s Phase 3 expansion and will have nine stations.
The project is special because it has a double-decker design, meaning there will be a road, a flyover, and the metro line on top of each other.
This makes the construction more complex and slower.
The metro line is expected to start building in June 2026 and will take about five and a half years to finish.
The total cost is very high, with the metro line alone costing Rs 15,611 crore and the flyover costing Rs 9,700 crore.
The project has faced delays due to approvals and coordination issues, but once completed, it will help many people in western Bengaluru travel more easily.
The Grey Line Metro (Hosahalli–Kadabagere corridor) is part of Namma Metro’s Phase 3 expansion.
The 12.15 km elevated corridor will have nine stations and is expected to start construction in June 2026.
The double-decker design, which includes a road, a flyover, and the metro line, makes construction slower and more expensive.
The project is expected to take about five and a half years to complete and will cost Rs 15,611 crore for the metro line and Rs 9,700 crore for the flyover.
Delays have been caused by approvals, land acquisition, and coordination issues between government departments and private agencies.
