Guendouzi Brawl Overshadows Fenerbahçe’s Champions League Return at Lyon

Guendouzi Brawl Overshadows Fenerbahçe’s Champions League Return at Lyon

Fenerbahçe played Lyon in a match for a place in the Champions League.

Fenerbahçe won the game 2-1 and the two-match tie 3-2 overall.

This sent Fenerbahçe into the Champions League main stage for the first time since the 2008/09 season.

After the final whistle, Matteo Guendouzi celebrated near the Lyon supporters.

He appeared to make gestures and shouted “Allez l’OM,” referring to Lyon’s rival Marseille.

Lyon players and staff then confronted him.

The argument grew into a larger fight involving people from both teams.

Security tried to separate everyone, but tensions reportedly continued near the tunnel.

Guendouzi said Lyon supporters had insulted his family throughout the match, while any UEFA punishment had not been announced.
