Jonquel Jones faces $500 WNBA fine after technical foul clash

In a basketball game, players follow many rules, and referees blow whistles when rules are broken.

Sometimes a player gets a special penalty called a technical foul for reacting badly to a call.

Jonquel Jones plays for the New York Liberty, and she received one of these technical fouls.

It happened during a game against the Indiana Fever when a referee called a foul on Sophie Cunningham.

Jones reacted after the whistle, and the referee gave her a technical foul.

Under new league rules, the first three technical fouls cost $500 each.

This was Jones' first technical foul this season, so she might have to pay $500.

Her team also lost the game, 106 to 92.

Kelsey Mitchell scored the most points in the game with 28, and Caitlin Clark added 22 points and 10 assists for Indiana.

Jones is far from any suspension, but the fine may still stand unless the league changes its mind.
