India Issues 91 Takedown Notices to X
The Indian government has sent 91 notices to X (formerly Twitter) to remove over 1,100 posts.
Most of these posts were flagged for causing trouble or disturbing public order.
Some posts were about political leaders, and a few were about illegal activities like betting or fake news.
The government says these posts were harmful, but X disagrees and says the process for removing posts should be different.
There were more notices during big events like elections and after certain attacks.
The government and X are in a legal fight about who can decide what should be removed from the internet.
MHA issued 91 takedown notices to X Corp, flagging 1,100 URLs over nearly two years.
566 URLs were flagged for 'disturbing public order', the most common offense.
124 URLs targeted political and public figures, including manipulated content about leaders.
Only 14 notices alleged criminal activity, including betting apps and financial fraud.
The largest single notice flagged 115 URLs for a doctored video affecting electoral processes.
