Manipur BJP MLA Susindro Meitei renews threat to quit party

A politician in Manipur, a state in northeastern India, is unhappy with his own political party.

His name is L Susindro Meitei, and he is a leader in the BJP, the party that runs the state government.

He says he might leave the BJP if the government does not take care of the people.

He says voters in his area are so upset that they want him to run as an independent instead of on a BJP ticket.

Meitei used to be a minister, and he thinks the government worked better back then.

Two months ago, in July, he warned that he might quit if things did not improve.

Manipur has had serious fighting between two communities, the Meiteis and the Kukis, since May 2023.

Hundreds of people have died and many families have lost their homes because of that violence.

An election in the state is due next year, and people will soon choose their leaders.
