Govt Calls Emergency Talks to Save Indian Football
There's a big problem in Indian football.
The top league, called the Indian Super League (ISL), doesn't have a new partner to run it.
The old agreement ends soon, and no one has taken over yet.
The government is calling a big meeting with all the important people in football to try and fix this problem.
They want everyone to talk and find a solution.
The Supreme Court, which is like a very important judge, has asked the government to help.
They also want the meeting to follow the rules of FIFA, which is the big organization that runs football worldwide.
The meeting will have many groups, like the ISL teams, other league teams, and companies that show football on TV.
They will all talk about how to make football in India better.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will hold emergency talks on December 3 to resolve the crisis in Indian football.
The crisis stems from the AIFF's inability to find a new commercial partner for the Indian Super League (ISL) and the expiry of the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) on December 8.
The Supreme Court has directed the government to help stakeholders find a solution and ensure global practices as per FIFA Statutes are followed.
The meeting will include representatives from AIFF, FSDL, ISL Clubs, I-League Clubs, Broadcasters, OTT Platforms, and KPMG India Services LLP.
The I-League clubs have demanded a common league partner to manage both the ISL and I-League.
