Vedanta Wins NCLT Approval for India Demerger
Vedanta Ltd, a big company, wanted to split its Indian operations into five separate companies.
The government's petroleum ministry didn't like this idea and said it could cause financial problems.
But the National Company Law Tribunal, which is like a court for companies, said Vedanta could go ahead with its plan.
The ministry was worried about a part of Vedanta called Malco Energy, which has money troubles.
Vedanta said it had followed all the rules and got approval from another regulator.
The company's shares went up a bit after the good news.
The split is expected to happen by March 2026 and could make each part of the company worth more money.
Vedanta Ltd received NCLT approval for its demerger plan despite opposition from the petroleum ministry.
The demerger will split Vedanta's Indian operations into five separately listed entities.
The petroleum ministry raised concerns about financial risks and inadequate disclosure of liabilities.
Vedanta argued it had addressed all regulatory requirements and secured SEBI approval.
The demerger is expected to unlock shareholder value and is set for completion by March 2026.
