Bengal Diaspora Urged to Help Drive State’s Economic Revival
Swapan Dasgupta asked people from Bengal living around the world to help the state grow.
He said they do not have to move back to Bengal to contribute.
They could share their skills, ideas, and connections from wherever they live.
He believes the diaspora could connect Bengal with businesses and institutions worldwide.
Dasgupta said Bengal has educated and talented people, but many have left the state.
He said the state needs better education and a friendlier environment for businesses and industries.
He also said Bengal should become less narrow and more open to new ideas.
The goal is to use global talent to support Bengal’s economic revival.
Finance minister Swapan Dasgupta urged Bengal’s global diaspora to deepen its engagement with the state.
Dasgupta said diaspora members could contribute without relocating to Bengal.
He described the diaspora as a potential economic bridge between Bengal and the wider world.
He said Bengal must improve education, support enterprise and industry, and adopt a less insular outlook.
Dasgupta linked the appeal to a talent drain, noting that many skilled Bengalis now hold senior global positions but do not work in Bengal.
