Bhavika Reddy's Bharatanatyam Arangetram Earns Standing Ovation

An arangetram is a special first full-length solo dance performance.

Bhavika Reddy, who is 18, performed Bharatanatyam at Ravindra Bharathi.

She has studied the dance for 10 years with Guru Geetha Ganesan.

The show included stories about Ganesha, Shiva, Rama, Krishna and other characters.

Bhavika used hand movements, facial expressions and footwork to tell these stories.

She performed both fast dance sections and emotional scenes.

Musicians supported her with singing, mridangam, violin, flute and sound effects.

The audience applauded her strongly throughout the evening.

The recital ended with a standing ovation.
