NPCI Enables Banks to Resolve UPI Dispute Faster
Imagine you sent money through UPI, but something went wrong and the bank declines your claim.
Now, banks can fix some of these issues themselves, without waiting for NPCI.
This new rule, called RGNB, lets banks approve certain disputes if they're sure the customer is right, even if there have been previous rejections.
This helps solve problems quicker, especially for things like fake transactions or when you don't get what you paid for.
NPCI introduces RGNB to address UPI payment disputes, overriding automated blocks.
Banks can now raise chargebacks without NPCI's approval in cases of fraud, failed transactions, or merchant issues.
The new mechanism, RGNB, enables banks to resolve customer disputes more quickly.
RGNB is applicable for customer grievances where refunds are sought.
The changes are effective from July 15, 2025.
