Maharashtra Airports See Passenger Growth Over Three Years

Passenger traffic at airports in Maharashtra, India, has been growing over the past three years.

Mumbai and Pune airports are the biggest contributors to this growth.

Mumbai airport handled the most passengers, with over 5.5 crore in 2024-25.

Pune airport also saw a significant increase, reaching over 1 crore passengers in the same year.

Smaller airports like Nagpur, Aurangabad, and Shirdi had steady but smaller increases.

Some very small airports, like Nashik, Jalgaon, and Nanded, saw big but uneven changes in passenger numbers.

The data shows that most air travel in Maharashtra happens in big cities, while smaller airports are not used as much.

Additionally, air cargo operations are facilitated at several airports, with Pune and Aurangabad having both international and domestic cargo facilities.

In November 2025, Mumbai airport set new records with 4.89 million passengers, including a peak day of 1.76 lakh passengers and 1,036 aircraft movements in a single day.

The busiest international route was Dubai, and the busiest domestic route was Delhi.
