Centre Takes Possession as Delhi Race Club Demolition Begins

The government took control of a large horse-racing club in Delhi.

The property covers about 53 acres.

The club had been connected with horse racing for many decades.

A government officer had ordered the club’s eviction on August 11.

The club asked a court to temporarily stop the takeover.

The Patiala House Court rejected that request on August 25.

Officials took possession on August 27, and demolition began soon afterward.

Several racing facilities, including stables and the winning post, were pulled down.
