Delhi Tightens Security Ahead of INDIA Bloc March and Protests

Delhi has added many police and paramilitary personnel because political protests are planned.

The INDIA bloc plans to march to the President’s residence on Friday.

It wants the President to consider demands about election chief Gyanesh Kumar and the voter-list revision process.

The reports give different figures for the number of security personnel: more than 20,000 or more than 26,000.

The Cockroach Janata Party has also called a protest for Saturday.

Police say they did not give permission for that gathering and have imposed restrictions.

Police have put up barriers and warned that travel could be affected.

One report says some trains were cancelled and about 57 metro stations were expected to close on Saturday.

The Congress rejected police allegations that its activists attacked officers, while police said officers were injured.
