Devika Armugam Pandaram was a 38-year-old woman from Dombivli East in Thane district.

Police said her Bank of Maharashtra account was allegedly used in an online fraud.

One report said she had given her account details to a friend from her native place.

Rajasthan police visited her home on August 8 and gave her a notice for questioning.

She then went to the Thane Police Commissionerate to seek clarification.

Officials told her that similar cases had been registered in several states.

Relatives said she became very anxious about the possibility of traveling for questioning.
