Mumbai Court Grants Bail to Fake Call Centre Owners
Two men, Deepak Mishra and Arpit Sharma, who owned a company called Teamodd Jobs Solutions Private Limited, were granted bail by a court in Mumbai.
They were accused of running a fake call centre that tricked American people into buying gift cards by pretending to renew their computer antivirus subscriptions.
The police said the money was turned into cryptocurrency.
The owners said they were wrongly accused and that the police didn't find any victims.
The court decided to grant them bail because the seriousness of the crime alone wasn't enough reason to keep them in jail.
Their employees had already been released on bail earlier.
