UK and France Pledge Troops for Ukraine

UK and France Pledge Troops for Ukraine

The UK's Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and France's President, Emmanuel Macron, signed an agreement with Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to provide troops and support for Ukraine's security if there is a peace deal with Russia.

This agreement was signed during a meeting of more than 30 European leaders and other members of the so-called Coalition of the Willing.

The US will lead efforts to monitor any ceasefire, and a special commission will be created to address any breaches.

Britain and France will establish military hubs in Ukraine to support its forces.

Zelenskiy expressed optimism about the agreement, stating that it is a significant step forward for Ukraine's security.

The agreement also includes support for Ukrainian forces with money and weapons, and binding commitments in case of a future attack by Russia.

However, many details of the agreement are still unclear, and a ceasefire appears remote as Russia is not involved in the negotiations and has stated it will not agree to any deal that includes NATO-country troops in Ukraine.
