Police Say Satya Niketan Owners Used Unqualified Workers Before Collapse

A building in Satya Niketan, Delhi, collapsed and seven people died.

Police investigated what happened.

They told the Delhi High Court that the owners had not hired qualified people for structural changes.

Police also said the operators of Hostel Daze did not take proper safety precautions.

Construction and other structural work had been happening in the building.

A Delhi University law student filed a public-interest case about the safety of student housing.

He wants private hostels and paying guest homes in the area to receive safety checks.

The police shared their findings in a report filed with the court on September 21.
