Karbi villagers oppose transmission towers in Nartap
People from 13 villages in the Nartap area are upset because the government wants to build big electricity towers through their homes and farms.
They say this will take away their land, which they have lived on for generations, and it might not be safe.
They also worry about their special cultural places.
The villagers have asked the government to stop the plan and find a different place for the towers.
They say they will protest if the government doesn't listen to them.
Residents of 13 Karbi villages oppose high-voltage transmission towers through their settlements.
Project involves 400/220/132/33 KV transmission lines through densely populated agrarian belt.
Villagers allege alignment threatens agricultural land, residential areas, and sacred cultural sites.
Protesters reject compensation offers, asserting land security and cultural heritage cannot be replaced.
Amri Karbi Students’ Union submitted memorandum demanding rerouting and dialogue with authorities.
