Chhattisgarh High Court Urges Trial Courts to Expedite Evidence Recording
Imagine a judge wants to make sure cases move faster.
The Chhattisgarh High Court told all the local judges to schedule court dates very close together for listening to evidence.
This is like telling a teacher to have students give their presentations one after another instead of waiting a long time between each one.
They especially want this for people who are already in jail waiting for their trial.
This is because waiting too long for court is not fair and can be a big problem.
The court hopes these faster dates will help finish trials quickly, ideally within four months.
This is to make sure everyone gets a fair and speedy trial, which is a basic right.
Chhattisgarh High Court ordered trial courts to fix short and continuous dates for evidence recording.
The directive aims to avoid unnecessary adjournments and expedite trials, especially for accused in judicial custody.
The order was issued while hearing a bail plea of Hariom Pal, accused of possessing 33.7 kg of Ganja.
Pal has been in custody since November 2024, with only 3 out of 14 witnesses examined so far.
The High Court expressed hope for the trial to conclude within four months and directed the state police chief to ensure witness presence.
